About the position

The Transportation Project Engineer/Manager at Weston & Sampson is responsible for leading transportation projects, primarily focusing on highway and roadway design. This role involves managing a team of engineers and technical staff, developing business with public clients, and ensuring the successful execution of various transportation-related projects. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain client relationships while actively participating in professional organizations to enhance industry connections.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the pursuit and execution of planning, design, and construction administration for transportation projects.
• Manage engineers and technical staff across various disciplines on multiple projects.
• Develop proposals to secure project assignments and negotiate scopes of service.
• Build and maintain relationships with public clients such as state and county Departments of Transportation and municipalities.
• Collaborate with practice and discipline leaders in proposal writing to expand the highway design group.
• Engage with professional organizations like ASCE, ACEC, and ITE to enhance peer relationships.
• Travel to client meetings, project sites, and potentially other office locations.

Requirements

• BS in Civil Engineering is required.
• 5 - 10+ years of experience managing multiple projects and clients.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in MA required or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months.
• Experience with AutoCAD; Civil 3D is a plus.
• Familiarity with Bentley MicroStation; InRoads/OpenRoads is a plus.
• Knowledge of relevant DOT Engineering Design Manual and AASHTO Green Book.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Ability to self-start and work independently.
• Valid driver's license.
