About the position

The Transportation Project Engineer at Benesch is responsible for enhancing transportation infrastructure through planning, engineering design, and construction for public agencies. This role involves preparing and reviewing technical documents, mentoring junior staff, and managing project tasks while collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed designs of urban and rural roadways from preliminary to final design.
  • Collaborate with team members, communities, and stakeholders to define data needs, project requirements, and outputs.
  • Compile and coordinate plans, specifications, cost estimates, and pay items.
  • Support studies and alternative analysis to determine best solutions to meet compliance and client goals.
  • Work with various disciplines and reviewers to ensure complete, accurate, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Contribute to proposal development.
  • Manage small projects and assist Project Managers in overall large project delivery.
  • Manage and maintain project documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or higher is required.
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment on challenging projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to develop task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner.
  • Experience working with Local and State public agency clients (Public Works, DOTs, etc.).
  • Proficient with ORD design software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Kansas and/or Missouri Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain upon hire (preferred).
  • Project experience in transportation engineering design (preferred).
