About the position

Bowman Consulting Group is seeking a Transportation Project Manager in West Palm Beach, FL, to lead and manage transportation projects. The role focuses on executing projects through effective administration, technical expertise, and management techniques, ensuring timely completion within budget. The position emphasizes developing sustainable transportation solutions that enhance community livability and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Receive broad guidance from senior management on key objectives and policy matters.
  • Manage people and processes for effective project execution.
  • Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
  • Mentor junior staff to develop future Project Managers.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to meet project requirements.
  • Support other disciplines with traffic engineering expertise.
  • Supervise client relationship strategies and maintain client satisfaction.
  • Lead regular project staff meetings.
  • Assist in marketing the firm's capabilities to establish new clients.
  • Manage projects and monitor progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules.
  • Assist in defining project scope and develop plans to accomplish projects.
  • Monitor progress toward deliverable schedules and compile project status reports.
  • Provide technical assistance in resolving design problems and ensure quality control.
  • Prepare client presentations and attend public meetings.
  • Review plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Review project changes and assist with preparation of monthly billings.
  • Serve as liaison between clients, agencies, subcontractors, and design teams.
  • Participate in proposal preparation and lead submissions on large projects.
  • Supervise project staff to ensure high professional standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required.
  • Ten or more years of professional engineering experience with an emphasis on transportation engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience leading professional engineering projects in transportation.
  • EIT Registration required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Registration or ability to receive within six months preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Valid state driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle check.
  • Proficient knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, or other engineering design software.
  • Experience with AutoTurn and GuideSIGN preferred.
  • Familiarity with DOT, permitting agency, and industry design standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with the preparation of construction plans and/or studies for roadway or transportation projects.
  • Experience directing tasks and performing QA/QC.
  • Strong marketing/business development skills and mindset.
