About the position

The Transportation Safety Coordinator will oversee contractor safety programs within a transportation company, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and enhancing service reliability. This role involves analyzing contractor reports, conducting safety audits, and collaborating with various departments to promote safety best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor contractor safety audits, inspections, and training compliance.
  • Review and improve safety training content and processes.
  • Lead contractor safety meetings to promote best practices and collaboration.
  • Conduct field inspections and audits to verify safety compliance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with various departments on safety issues and propose policy or contract revisions.
  • Manage emergency response procedures, activating event alerts, and coordinating communications during incidents.
  • Represent the organization at safety-related forums and meetings, providing post-event briefings for continuous improvement.
  • Recommend hazard analyses and safety mitigations, conducting feasibility studies on new technologies.
  • Manage the maintenance of emergency operating plans to ensure service reliability.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in the transportation industry.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with safety programs and training.
  • Data analysis and project management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
