About the position

The Transportation Security Inspector position at the Department of Homeland Security involves safeguarding the American transportation infrastructure at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The role requires ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting inspections, and responding to security incidents to protect the public and maintain the integrity of transportation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure regulatory compliance of persons and transportation systems/entities regulated under Title 49 Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) Part 1500 series.
  • Serve as a technical specialist and primary point of contact on transportation security regulations for assigned industry operations.
  • Lead and participate in activities designed to demonstrate security strength and test TSA's internal security.
  • Conduct regulatory inspections and investigations, supporting criminal investigations related to alleged or suspected security violations.
  • Respond to and coordinate security incidents, threats, violations, or potential violations.
  • Coordinate and participate in covert and overt tests/audits, vulnerability assessments.
  • Perform complex and technical inspections of all regulated parties to determine overall security posture and compliance.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National status.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening and subject to post-employment random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Successfully complete the Basic Transportation Security Inspections Course.
  • Availability for 'on call' work and various shifts, including frequently changing and uncommon tours of duty.
  • Ability to undertake extensive travel, including overnight trips.

  • Experience in transportation security inspections and investigations.

  • Experience in documenting compliance with policies and regulations.
