About the position

The Transportation Supervisor at Sysco is responsible for overseeing the delivery operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and managing the delivery staff. This role involves directing daily activities, maintaining communication with associates, and implementing efficiency measures to enhance service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the daily work and safety of Delivery Associates, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and planned routes.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies and maintains accurate electronic logs.
• Manages labor hours and consumable supplies within budget.
• Prepares work schedules, including extra work days and shifts as needed.
• Oversees the proper selection and utilization of company assets in support of the Delivery department.
• Organizes required repairs with proper departments as necessary.
• Reviews delivery functions and productivity reporting.
• Suggests efficiency ideas and assists with implementation of delivery changes.
• Interprets, trains, and enforces company policies, protocols, and procedures.
• Communicates with Sales Management and Marketing Associates to resolve customer or delivery issues.
• Visits customer locations to address issues and assess delivery difficulties.
• Maintains open communication channels with associates and monitors morale.
• Submits and responds to ideas to improve associate engagement.
• Coordinates efforts with the Safety department for training and safety inspections.
• Makes recommendations for disciplinary action and behavior modification as required.
• Executes management functions including staff selection, development, and performance reviews.
• Performs duties of associates supervised and other related duties as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• 1-3 years of related experience and/or training.
• Completion of a Sysco approved defensive driving program.
• HazMat certification preferred.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver License preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• 2 or 4-year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or similar major preferred.
