About the position

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for coordinating transportation services for the City of Deerfield Beach, including the Community Shuttle, senior transportation programs, and special events. This role involves supervising bus drivers, managing routing and scheduling, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and preparing financial and programmatic reports. The supervisor will work under general supervision, developing work methods and sequences to enhance service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, addressing employee concerns and performance issues.
• Coordinates, assigns, and reviews work while establishing work schedules.
• Manages transportation services for programs and special events.
• Attends meetings to discuss and plan programs, identify issues, and improve services.
• Reviews safety standards and procedures for driving and bus maintenance.
• Recommends staff training as necessary.
• Oversees regular inspections of buses for cleanliness and condition.
• Coordinates vehicle repairs with Fleet Maintenance and maintains repair records.
• Prepares and submits complex reports on routing, passengers, maintenance, and inspections according to regulations.
• Maintains plans and policies for transportation programs in alignment with strategic priorities.
• Researches and compiles data for reports and cost estimates.
• Maintains programmatic tracking logs and documentation.
• Addresses inquiries regarding transportation programs.
• May drive vehicles in extreme circumstances and be on-call as needed.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Business Management or related discipline.
• Four years of transportation management or logistics experience or equivalent education and experience.
• At least two years of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.
• Valid state CDL Class A or B with Passenger Endorsement and acceptable driving history, or ability to attain within 6 months.
• Chauffeur's License required or ability to attain within 6 months.

Nice-to-haves

• School Bus endorsement preferred.
