About the position

The Transportation Supervisor at Ryder is responsible for supervising and coordinating logistics operations, ensuring that the transportation team meets company standards and customer service specifications. This role involves coaching and developing team members, monitoring performance, and implementing health and safety initiatives. The supervisor will work closely with the Logistics Manager to optimize processes and achieve business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate and oversee day-to-day logistics operations.
  • Plan and review logistics processes in collaboration with the Logistics Manager.
  • Establish work schedules and procedures for optimal team logistics.
  • Accountable for site Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Collaborate with customers on all aspects of operations.
  • Conduct regular meetings with team members to monitor progress and performance.
  • Cultivate team spirit and promote cooperation through Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.
  • Carry out performance evaluations and recommend awards or merit increases.
  • Address performance problems through corrective action and disciplinary processes.
  • Implement health & safety and security initiatives and ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Provide orientation for new employees and Lead Hands.

Requirements

  • H.S. diploma/GED required.
  • One (1) year or more experience in transportation, warehouse, or distribution environment preferred.
  • 0 to One (1) year direct supervisory/leadership experience required.
