About the position

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the delivery operations within the organization. This role involves managing delivery staff, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining efficient delivery processes. The supervisor will also be tasked with budget management, scheduling, and fostering positive associate relations while ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the daily work and safety of Delivery Associates, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and planned routes.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, maintaining accurate electronic logs.
  • Manages labor hours and consumable supplies within budget constraints.
  • Prepares work schedules, including extra work days and shifts as needed.
  • Oversees the proper selection and utilization of company assets in support of the Delivery department.
  • Organizes required repairs with appropriate departments as necessary.
  • Reviews delivery functions and productivity reporting, suggesting efficiency ideas and cost reduction measures.
  • Interprets, trains, and enforces company policies, protocols, and procedures, including food safety and record keeping.
  • Communicates with Sales Management and Marketing Associates to resolve customer or delivery issues.
  • Visits customer locations to address issues and assess delivery difficulties.
  • Maintains open communication channels with associates, monitoring morale and engagement.
  • Coordinates with the Safety department for training and conducting safety inspections.
  • Makes recommendations for disciplinary actions and behavior modifications as required.
  • Executes management functions including staff selection, development, and performance reviews.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of related experience and/or training in a supervisory role.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License preferred; HazMat certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Proficient in Word processing and spreadsheet software; excellent computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 or 4-year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or a similar major preferred.
