TRANSPORTATION SURVEYOR (CALTRANS)

About the position

Under the direction of the Senior Transportation Surveyor, Chief, Surveys Coordination, the incumbent is responsible for assisting with evaluation, development, training, implementation, and technical support relating to the Department's office surveying functions (Right of Way Engineering and Surveys office). The incumbent also assists other Senior Transportation Surveyor and Transportation Surveyor staff as directed. This position receives functional guidance from the Chief, Right of Way Engineering Coordination and the Chief of Relinquishment and Vacation Coordinator in the Office of Land Surveys of the Division of Right of Way and Land Surveys.

Responsibilities

• Assist with evaluation, development, training, implementation, and technical support for office surveying functions.
• Provide support to Senior Transportation Surveyor and Transportation Surveyor staff as directed.
• Assist in the maintenance of the Department's geodetic control network.
• Support on-site GNSS Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) installations statewide.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Education, Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT), or Land Surveyor (LS) certificate.
• Minimum qualifications as specified in the Class Specification.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in surveying and geodetic control.
• Familiarity with Caltrans policies and procedures.
