About the position

Our client is currently seeking a Transportation Systems Analyst for a 12 month + contract with the potential for temp-to-perm. This role is ideal for a highly motivated and experienced IT Logistics Execution (LE) Analyst who is eager to be part of an exciting global network of SAP professionals. The primary focus of this position is to optimize carrier and transportation processes within the fulfillment organization. The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 7 years of experience working with fulfillment and transportation tools that interface with ERP systems, particularly SAP. The ERP Systems Teams are responsible for conducting analysis, design, evaluation, modification, testing, and implementation of enterprise-wide systems such as Oracle, SAP, Baan, and PeopleSoft across various functional areas. They evaluate system specifications and utilize the latest analytical and diagramming tools to represent business and technical processes. Additionally, the teams develop conversion and system implementation plans, prepare and obtain approval for system and programming documentation, recommend changes in development, maintenance, and system standards, coordinate system upgrade activities, and train user personnel in the conversion and implementation of the system. In this role, the Transportation Systems Analyst will implement and support best practice Transportation Management (TM) processes across business units and functional domains. The analyst will be tasked with solving complex business problems related to systems integrations with freight carriers, optimizing freight costs, and processing shipments by warehouse personnel. The role requires taking ownership of transportation and carrier-related service issues with a managed services partner, guiding them to successful conclusions, and putting service improvement plans in place where necessary. The analyst will ensure that the quality, velocity, and integration of fulfillment-related projects deliver realized value, a positive return on investment, and an excellent customer experience for business users. Furthermore, the analyst will champion the use of strategic carrier management solutions and technologies as a business asset, creating and scaling associated processes, decisions, and culture across the business team.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and support best practice Transportation Management (TM) processes across business units and functional domains.
  • Solve complex business problems related to systems integrations with freight carriers and shipment carrier selection.
  • Optimize freight costs and process shipments by warehouse personnel, deploying related solutions within business units.
  • Take ownership of transportation and carrier-related service issues with a managed services partner and guide them to successful conclusions.
  • Monitor and report progress against service improvement plans regularly.
  • Ensure quality, velocity, and integration of fulfillment-related projects deliver realized value and excellent customer experience.
  • Refine global processes in the transportation area to drive growth and improve profitability.
  • Champion the use of strategic carrier management solutions and technologies as a business asset.
  • Meet with business and IT leaders to discuss and document system requirements, specifications, costs, and timelines.
  • Learn, implement, configure, and operate computer software SAP WM, SAP eWM, and additional connected applications related to transportation and carrier management.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in an SAP LE environment with experience working with connected 3rd party bolt-on applications like BY TM (Transportation Management).
  • Knowledge of SAP TM (Transportation Management), SAP LBN (Logistics Business Network), and SCT XPS is a big plus.
  • Strong willingness to operate in a global IT organization, closely related with the business.
  • Self-starter and solution-oriented with excellent communication skills at various levels.
  • Experience working with an offshore development organization.
  • Strong technical foundation with experience in Solaris/Unix scripting, Oracle/PLSQL, XML, Java, .NET, and ABAP.
  • Ability to study problems and suggest solutions in relevant areas.
  • Understanding of and experience successfully implementing SAP WM or EWM is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and project planning skills with experience taking projects through their full lifecycle.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to quantify both potential and realized business value impact.
  • Ability to work across an organization, share success, and build a culture that embraces change and growth.
  • English as a first or second language, sufficient for telephone consulting, email, training, and documentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAP WM or EWM implementation.
  • Familiarity with additional logistics software and tools.
