About the position
The Transportation Technician I position at Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) involves applying standard inspection procedures on various transportation projects, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to plans and specifications during and after construction activities. This role is essential for maintaining compliance on roadway and bridge construction projects in the Robbinsville, North Carolina area.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspection of contractor's operations on a variety of transportation projects including roadway and bridge construction to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
- Perform routine material testing.
- Measure and track quantities of pay items.
- Gather and maintain record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector's daily diaries.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Active driver's license.
- Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
Nice-to-haves
- NCDOT certifications including Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing preferred.
- Construction inspection experience on NCDOT projects preferred.
