About the position

The Transportation Worker I position at the Maine Department of Transportation is a full-time role focused on maintaining and improving the safety and effectiveness of roadways and bridges in Maine. This position requires working nights and involves various tasks such as road repair, culvert replacement, and snow plowing. Responsibilities

• Perform road repair and maintenance tasks.
• Replace culverts and other infrastructure as needed.
• Plow snow and maintain road safety during winter months.
• Participate in training for Commercial Driving License and Snowfighter certification.
• Work in various weather conditions to ensure safe transportation for Mainers.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to obtain a Class C State of Maine license by the first day of employment.
• Must obtain and retain a valid Class B State of Maine license during the initial six-month probationary period.
• Ability to become a certified snow fighter within 12 months.
• Ability to obtain flagger certification within a specified timeframe.
