About The Position

The position is located in the Cherokee County Roadside Environmental Unit in Division 14 as a Transportation Worker II. This role primarily involves managing vegetation through the use of herbicides along rights-of-way, but will also assist in seeding/mulching, erosion control, plant bed, and wildflower maintenance. The work includes installing erosion control, mowing, and maintaining plant material along NCDOT rights-of-way. Additionally, the position requires the operation, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, including trucks, tractors, tractor attachments, mulch blowers, and other similar equipment, as well as hand and power tools. The work environment will expose the employee to all types of weather conditions and requires the ability to work on uneven surfaces and slopes. This position is subject to emergency call back, scheduled night work, and work during adverse weather or other extreme circumstances.
