The Transporter position at Salem Hospital is a part-time role requiring 30 hours of work per week, specifically from 2 PM to 8 PM on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The primary responsibility of the Transporter is to safely transport patients throughout the hospital, ensuring that any necessary equipment such as oxygen or medications is handled appropriately. This role involves assisting patients in moving to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds, and requires signing patients in and out of nursing units and departments before and after transport. Additionally, the Transporter is responsible for transporting deceased patients to the morgue or other designated areas as instructed. The Transporter must confirm patient identification through verbal communication and ID bands, greet patients, introduce themselves, and explain the nature of the transport. The role also includes delivering and picking up various items from nursing units, laboratories, service departments, and pharmacies, ensuring that these items are delivered to the appropriate departments, such as medical records, forms, requisitions, films, and specimens. The position may require performing other related duties as necessary, and the Transporter must be able to rotate shifts and work holidays when needed.
