About the position

The Transporter role at Regional One Health involves providing timely transport of patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the hospital. This position is crucial for ensuring patient safety and comfort while adhering to established practices and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides timely transport of patients, specimens, and equipment in accordance with established practices and standards.
  • Responds to assignments and provides timely transport of patients (via wheelchair, beds, or stretcher) throughout the hospital.
  • Checks ID band prior to transporting patients.
  • Assesses patient's needs before each lift, move, or ambulation for appropriate safety precautions to prevent injury.
  • Secures proper equipment and assists in transferring patients into beds, chairs, wheelchairs, or stretchers utilizing proper techniques.
  • Provides patient escort services as needed.
  • Transports charts, specimens, records, equipment, and supplies to and from departments in a safe and timely manner.
  • Monitors and obtains trip information via the automated patient tracking system.
  • Cleans and assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and utilizes supplies in a cost-effective manner.
  • Responds appropriately to emergency situations and notifies appropriate personnel.
  • Works effectively as a team member within the department and with customers to provide quality service through communication, cooperation, and collaboration.
  • Maintains required department records, reports, and files for administrative and compliance purposes.
  • Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient/family, department, and hospital information.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients and personnel.
  • Completes required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements.

Requirements

  • Qualified by education, training, or experience to work with the adolescence, adult, and/or geriatric patient as specialty assignment dictates.
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation certification must be obtained during orientation process Upon Hire.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support certification must be obtained during orientation process Upon Hire.
  • Some experience in Healthcare or related facilities, as well as some on-the-job training preferred.
