Transporter

About the position

The Transporter at Doctors Hospital of Augusta plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of patients, their belongings, and medical equipment within the hospital. This position is highly visible and requires a commitment to patient care and safety, as well as effective communication with patients and clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist clinical personnel in transferring patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, or stretchers.
• Transport patients safely in wheelchairs, stretchers, or while ambulating, ensuring side rails are up and maintaining a safe pace.
• Utilize appropriate positioning aides/devices to ensure patient safety and comfort during transport.
• Transport items with the patient or separately, such as oxygen or IV stands.
• Maintain therapeutic communication with patients during transport.
• Assist in departmental cleaning and maintenance of supplies.
• Help in the movement of medical equipment within the facility.
• Transport specimens, lab items, and pharmacy items.

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification is required.
• Prior healthcare and/or customer service experience is preferred.
