The Trauma Data Analyst position at Jefferson Torresdale involves working under the supervision of the Trauma Program Director and Nurse Registrars to establish and maintain efficient operations of the Trauma Registry. This role is crucial for meeting the Pennsylvania Trauma System Foundation's data collection and reporting requirements. The Trauma Data Analyst will be responsible for reviewing medical records both concurrently and retrospectively to abstract necessary information for inclusion in the Trauma Registry. This includes identifying trauma cases using established criteria and ensuring that accurate records are maintained for a complete and organized trauma database. In addition to data abstraction for the Trauma Registry, the analyst will also abstract data for the National Trauma Bank and the Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP). The position requires the completion of specific training courses, including the beginner Trauma Registry course within the first year of hire and an ICD-10 refresher course every five years. Furthermore, the analyst must complete the Abbreviated Injury Scale Course within the first year and obtain the Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) certification within two years of hire. Participation in monthly TQIP educational sessions and trauma meetings is also expected to contribute to the Performance Improvement process. The Trauma Data Analyst will compile and submit designated reports and summaries according to established deadlines, assisting in the efficient operation of the Trauma Program. The role may also involve additional duties necessary for the proper maintenance and function of the Trauma Registry. A strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and ICD-10 coding is preferred, along with the ability to work independently and possess strong organizational skills.
