About the position

The Trauma Program Social Worker at Baptist Trauma Center plays a crucial role in supporting trauma patients and their families by addressing personal and environmental challenges that may impede recovery. This position involves collaboration with medical teams and various trauma support programs to ensure comprehensive care and compliance with health standards.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel and assist trauma patients and their families with personal and environmental difficulties affecting recovery.
  • Develop, implement, document, and monitor mandated screenings and psychosocial assessments of trauma patients.
  • Collaborate with trauma patients and families to create goals and plans in line with medical recommendations and financial means.
  • Provide counseling to assist patients and families in crisis to mobilize their support systems after traumatic injury.
  • Work with child life specialists for cases involving children and families needing support after trauma or loss.
  • Assist in planning for the placement of trauma patients, including transportation and applications.
  • Participate in trauma patient discharge planning.
  • Support complicated trauma cases related to spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and limb loss recovery.
  • Participate in and support Trauma Survivor Network activities.
  • Aid trauma clinical provider and nursing teams regarding mental health and wellness.
  • Assist trauma providers with FMLA/disability forms.
  • Report pertinent data to the Trauma Program Manager and Medical Director.
  • Serve on Trauma Operations and Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Committee.
  • Ensure compliance with American College of Surgeons and Oklahoma State Department of Health Standards.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) required.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required.
  • Minimum of one year's experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of social work concepts.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with self-direction.
  • Knowledge of relevant medical practices and processes.
