About the position

The Trauma Victim Advocate serves as a crisis responder in a hospital setting, providing immediate support to patients and their families following incidents of violence. This role involves offering comfort, regular updates on patient conditions, grief support for families of homicide victims, and connecting them with crime victim services. The advocate operates under the supervision of the Trauma Outreach Manager, ensuring that victims and co-victims receive the necessary assistance during their recovery process.

Responsibilities

  • Support patients and their families in the immediate aftermath of violence.
  • Offer comfort to patients in the trauma bay.
  • Provide regular updates to families about their loved ones' conditions.
  • Deliver grief support to families of homicide victims.
  • Link patients and their families to crime victim services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • 2 Years experience working directly with victims of crime (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field (Preferred)
  • General experience assisting and providing advocacy services to victims of crime (Preferred)
