About the position
The Surgical Technician position is responsible for preparing the operating room and ensuring a sterile environment for surgical procedures. This role involves managing surgical equipment, assisting the surgeon during operations, and maintaining accurate records of surgical supplies and instruments.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for surgery.
- Maintain a clean and sterile surgical environment.
- Provide the surgeon with appropriate instrumentation and equipment.
- Pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon during surgery.
- Perform initial instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator.
- Keep records of use of Steam Sterilizer.
- Organize suture carts and monitor expiration dates.
- Turn over rooms in between cases.
- Assist team members with gowning and gloving.
- Assist with patient positioning pre-operatively and transport patients from cart to bed and back.
- Stock adequate supplies for surgery.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1+ years of related work experience preferred.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
Nice-to-haves
- Certified Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
