About the position

The Travel DSP - Community position is designed for individuals who are passionate about providing support and instruction to people participating in Community Services Programs, specifically focusing on Community Habilitation and In Home Respite. This role involves working closely with individuals in their own homes and within the community to enhance their independence in daily living activities. The position requires a commitment to fostering skill-building activities as outlined in the Staff Action Plan, which may include helping individuals gain and maintain independence in their daily living skills, providing respite for caregivers, and facilitating community involvement. In this role, the DSP will assist program participants in learning essential social skills both at home and in community settings. The DSP will also be responsible for attending general staff meetings, in-service training, and other relevant agency meetings to ensure they are up-to-date with best practices and agency policies. The position requires flexibility, as the DSP will assist program participants during scheduled hours that may include days, evenings, and weekends. Additionally, the DSP must be able to travel to various locations throughout the agency to provide services, which includes safely transporting individuals to and from activities and appointments using their own vehicle. It is crucial for the DSP to maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures, and to submit necessary billing and program documentation accurately and in a timely manner. This role is vital in ensuring that individuals receive the support they need to thrive in their daily lives.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction and supervision to individuals in Community Services Programs.
  • Assists individuals in skill-building activities as defined by the Staff Action Plan.
  • Helps individuals gain and maintain independence in daily living skills.
  • Provides respite for caregivers in In Home Respite situations.
  • Facilitates access to community involvement for program participants.
  • Teaches social skills to individuals at home and in the community.
  • Participates in general staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Assists program participants during scheduled hours, including days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Travels to multiple locations to provide services as required.
  • Safely transports individuals to and from activities and appointments in a personal vehicle.
  • Submits necessary billing and program documentation, ensuring compliance with EVV requirements.
  • Complies with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid Driver's License that meets agency policy is necessary.
  • Ability to transport individuals in a personal vehicle that meets agency requirements.
  • Must be able to use a personal device (cell phone, tablet, etc.) for documentation purposes.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
