About the position

The Travel DSP - Community position is a part-time role focused on providing essential support and instruction to individuals participating in Community Services Programs, specifically in Community Habilitation and In Home Respite. The primary goal of this position is to enhance the independence of participants in their daily living activities, which may include personal care, social skills development, and community engagement. The role requires working closely with individuals in their homes and within the community, ensuring they have the necessary support to thrive in their daily lives. In this position, the Direct Support Professional (DSP) will assist participants in skill-building activities as outlined in their Staff Action Plans. This includes helping individuals gain and maintain independence in daily living skills, providing respite for caregivers, and facilitating community involvement. The DSP will also be responsible for safely transporting individuals to various activities and appointments, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and agency policies. The role involves active participation in staff meetings, in-service training, and other agency-related gatherings to stay informed and engaged with best practices in community support. The DSP will work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, and weekends, and will be expected to travel to multiple locations as required by the agency. Additionally, the DSP must ensure that all billing and program documentation is submitted accurately and in compliance with Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction and supervision to individuals in Community Services Programs.
  • Assists individuals in skill-building activities as defined by the Staff Action Plan.
  • Helps individuals gain and maintain independence in daily living skills.
  • Provides respite for caregivers in In Home Respite situations.
  • Facilitates access to community involvement for participants.
  • Teaches social skills to individuals at home and in the community.
  • Participates in general staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Assists program participants during scheduled hours, including days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Travels to multiple locations to provide services as required.
  • Safely transports individuals to and from activities and appointments in a personal vehicle.
  • Submits necessary billing and program documentation, ensuring compliance with EVV standards.
  • Complies with all applicable regulations, policies, and agency-required trainings.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid Driver's License that meets agency policy is necessary.
  • Ability to transport individuals in a personal vehicle that meets agency requirements.
  • Ability to use a personal device (cell phone, tablet, etc.) for documentation purposes.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
