About the position

The Travel DSP - Community position is a part-time role focused on providing essential support and instruction to individuals participating in Community Services Programs, specifically Community Habilitation and In Home Respite. The primary goal of this role is to enhance the independence of participants in their daily living activities, which may include personal care, social skills development, and community engagement. The DSP will work closely with individuals in their homes and within the community, ensuring they have the necessary support to thrive in their daily lives. In this role, the DSP will assist participants in skill-building activities as outlined in their Staff Action Plans. This includes helping individuals gain and maintain independence in daily living skills, providing respite for caregivers, and facilitating community involvement. The DSP will also be responsible for safely transporting individuals to various activities and appointments, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and agency policies. Participation in staff meetings and training sessions is also a key component of this position, as it helps maintain a high standard of care and support for program participants. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, as services may be needed during days, evenings, and weekends. The DSP will be expected to travel to multiple locations to provide services, which necessitates a valid driver's license and a personal vehicle that meets agency requirements. Additionally, the DSP must be diligent in submitting necessary billing and program documentation, ensuring all services provided are compliant with Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction and supervision to individuals in Community Services Programs.
  • Assists individuals in skill-building activities as defined by the Staff Action Plan.
  • Helps individuals gain and maintain independence in daily living skills.
  • Provides respite for caregivers in In Home Respite situations.
  • Facilitates community involvement for program participants.
  • Participates in general staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Assists program participants during scheduled hours, including days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Safely transports individuals to and from activities and appointments using a personal vehicle.
  • Submits necessary billing and program documentation, ensuring compliance with EVV standards.
  • Complies with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid Driver's License that meets agency policy.
  • Ability to transport individuals in a personal vehicle that meets agency requirements.
  • Ability to use a personal device (cell phone, tablet, etc.) for documentation purposes.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
