About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role involves providing instruction and supervision to individuals participating in Community Services Programs, including Community Habilitation and In Home Respite. The position focuses on enhancing the independence of participants in their daily living activities, both in their homes and within the community.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction and supervision to individuals in Community Services Programs.
• Assists participants in skill-building activities as defined by the Staff Action Plan.
• Helps individuals gain and maintain independence in daily living skills.
• Offers respite to caregivers in In Home Respite situations.
• Facilitates community involvement and social skills development.
• Participates in staff meetings and training sessions.
• Assists program participants during scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Travels to multiple locations to provide services as required.
• Safely transports individuals to and from activities and appointments in a personal vehicle.
• Submits necessary billing and program documentation, ensuring compliance with regulations.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Driver's License that meets agency policy is necessary.
• Ability to transport individuals in a personal vehicle that meets agency requirements.
• Ability to use a personal device (cell phone, tablet, etc.) for documentation purposes.
• Must meet physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
