About the position

The Travel DSP - Community position is a part-time role focused on providing instruction and supervision to individuals participating in Community Services Programs, specifically Community Habilitation and In Home Respite. The primary goal of this position is to assist individuals in gaining independence in their daily living activities, which may include skill-building activities as defined by the Staff Action Plan. This role involves working closely with individuals in their own homes and within the community, helping them to enhance their independence and social skills. In this position, the Direct Support Professional (DSP) will assist program participants in various skill-building activities, which may include gaining and maintaining independence in daily living skills, providing respite to caregivers, and facilitating community involvement. The DSP will also be responsible for safely transporting individuals to and from activities and appointments using their own vehicle. Additionally, the role requires compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as the submission of necessary billing and program documentation. The DSP will participate in general staff meetings, in-service training, and other relevant agency meetings to ensure they are up-to-date with agency policies and best practices. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, as services may be provided during days, evenings, and weekends. Overall, the Travel DSP - Community role is essential in supporting individuals with disabilities to lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction and supervision to individuals in Community Services Programs.
  • Assists individuals in skill-building activities as defined by the Staff Action Plan.
  • Helps individuals gain and maintain independence in daily living skills.
  • Provides respite to caregivers in In Home Respite situations.
  • Facilitates access to community involvement for program participants.
  • Teaches social skills to individuals at home and in the community.
  • Participates in general staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Safely transports individuals to and from activities and appointments.
  • Submits necessary billing and program documentation, ensuring compliance with EVV requirements.
  • Complies with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid Driver's License that meets agency policy is necessary.
  • Ability to transport individuals in a personal vehicle that meets agency requirements.
  • Ability to use a personal device (cell phone, tablet, etc.) for documentation purposes.
  • Must meet physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
