About the position

Focus Staff is seeking a highly motivated and energetic MRI Technologist for a travel assignment in Portland, Maine. The MRI Technologist will be responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes. The assignment is temporary, lasting for 13 weeks, with a shift schedule of 3x12 hours during the night. Responsibilities

  • Operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes.
  • Perform patient studies according to set protocol, including placing specified coils close to the area of interest.
  • Operate imaging and other equipment devices to provide quality diagnostic services, including keying commands to specify scan sequences into the computer.
  • Interview patients to explain MRI procedures and address their concerns with tact and courtesy.
  • Ensure patient and staff safety by explaining safety protocols and monitoring patients via closed circuit TV.
  • Orient new hires and train MRI Technologists, students, and trainees.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of continuous recent experience as an MRI Technologist, working twenty (20) hours or more per week.
  • License in the required state for MRI Technologists.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Proficiency in MRI and knowledge of required protocols for performing complex MRI procedures.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to learn applications relevant to the position.
  • At least 2 years of hospital experience in a clinical area; EP preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in interventional radiology is a plus.
