About the position

Focus Staff is seeking a highly motivated and energetic travel MRI Technologist for a contract assignment in Boise, Idaho. This position is designed for professionals who are passionate about providing high-quality imaging services in a friendly, positive, and professional environment. The role requires the MRI Technologist to operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes. The assignment is for a duration of 13 weeks, with a standard work schedule of 40 hours per week, typically consisting of 8-hour shifts during the day. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of MRI procedures and patient safety protocols, demonstrating compassion and sensitivity in their interactions with patients. Critical thinking and the ability to act swiftly in emergencies are essential traits for success in this role. The MRI Technologist will work under the direction of the Chief of Radiology and the Imaging Services Director, with the autonomy to make independent judgments and utilize ingenuity in their work. Responsibilities include performing patient studies according to established protocols, operating imaging equipment to ensure optimal diagnostic quality, and ensuring the safety of both patients and staff. The technologist will also be responsible for interviewing patients to explain procedures, addressing concerns, and providing a high level of customer service. Additionally, the role involves training and orienting new hires and students in MRI technology, contributing to a collaborative and educational work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes.
  • Perform patient studies according to set protocols, including placing specified coils close to the area of interest.
  • Operate imaging and other equipment devices to provide quality diagnostic services, including keying commands to specify scan sequences into the computer.
  • Interview patients to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures and address patient concerns with tact and courtesy.
  • Ensure patient and staff safety by explaining safety protocols and monitoring patients via closed circuit TV.
  • Orient and train new hires, MRI Technologists, students, and trainees.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of continuous recent experience as an MRI Technologist, working twenty (20) hours or more per week.
  • License in the required state for MRI Technologists.
  • BLS certification.
  • Proficiency in MRI and knowledge of required protocols for performing complex MRI procedures.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to learn applications relevant to the position.
  • At least 2 years of hospital experience in a clinical area, with EP preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in interventional radiology.
  • Previous travel experience as an MRI Technologist.
