About the position

Focus Staff is currently seeking a highly motivated and energetic Licensed MRI Technologist for a contract assignment in Staten Island, NY. This position is temporary, lasting for 13 weeks, and involves working a 5x8 day shift. The MRI Technologist will be responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes. Under the direction of the Chief of Radiology and the Imaging Services Director, the technologist will perform related technological functions to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care while utilizing efficient and safe processes. The role requires the technologist to perform patient studies according to set protocols, including placing specified coils close to the area of interest. The technologist will operate imaging and other equipment devices to provide quality diagnostic services, which includes keying commands to specify scan sequences into the computer, adjusting transmitters and receivers, and entering data on the camera's keyboard to photograph images. Additionally, the technologist will interview patients to explain MRI procedures, addressing any concerns they may have, and will exhibit a high degree of tact, courtesy, and poise when interacting with patients, staff, and visitors. Safety is a critical aspect of this role, as the technologist will ensure patient and staff safety by explaining safety protocols, requesting the removal of hazardous metal objects, alerting staff of potential dangers, and monitoring patients via closed-circuit TV. The MRI Technologist will also be responsible for orienting new hires and training MRI Technologist students and trainees. Responsibilities

  • Operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes.
  • Perform patient studies according to set protocols, including placing specified coils close to the area of interest.
  • Operate imaging and other equipment devices to provide quality diagnostic services, including keying commands to specify scan sequences into the computer.
  • Interview patients to explain MRI procedures and address patient concerns with tact and courtesy.
  • Ensure patient and staff safety by explaining safety protocols and monitoring patients via closed-circuit TV.
  • Orient new hires and train MRI Technologist students and trainees.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of continuous recent experience as a MRI Technologist, working twenty (20) hours or more per week.
  • License in the required state.
  • BLS certification.
  • Proficiency in MRI and knowledge of required protocols for performing complex MRI procedures.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to learn applications relevant to the position.
  • At least 2 years of hospital experience in a clinical area; EP preferred.
