About the position

Focus Staff is currently seeking a highly motivated and energetic Licensed MRI Technologist for a contract assignment in Lebanon, NH. This position is temporary, lasting for 13 weeks, and involves working night shifts on a 5x8 schedule. The MRI Technologist will be responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes. Under the direction of the Chief of Radiology and the Imaging Services Director, the technologist will perform related technological functions to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care, utilizing efficient and safe processes. The role requires the technologist to perform patient studies according to set protocols, including placing specified coils close to the area of interest. The technologist will operate imaging and other equipment devices to provide quality diagnostic services, which includes keying commands to specify scan sequences into the computer, adjusting transmitters and receivers, and entering data on the camera's keyboard to photograph images. Additionally, the technologist will interview patients to explain MRI procedures, addressing any concerns they may have, and will exhibit a high degree of tact, courtesy, and poise when interacting with patients, staff, and visitors. Ensuring patient and staff safety is paramount, which includes explaining safety protocols, requesting the removal of hazardous metal objects, and monitoring patients via closed circuit TV. The technologist will also be responsible for orienting new hires and training MRI Technologist students and trainees.

Responsibilities

  • Operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes.
  • Perform patient studies according to set protocol, including placing specified coil close to the area of interest.
  • Operate imaging and other equipment devices to provide quality diagnostic services, including keying commands to specify scan sequences into the computer.
  • Interview patients to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures and address patient concerns.
  • Ensure patient and staff safety by explaining safety protocols and monitoring patients via closed circuit TV.
  • Orient new hires and train MRI Technologist students and trainees.

Requirements

  • Have two (2) years of regular (twenty (20) hours or more per week) continuous recent experience as a MRI Technologist.
  • License in required state.
  • BLS certification.
  • Fully proficient in MRI and knowledgeable of required protocols in performing complex MRI procedures.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to learn applications relevant to the position.
  • 2 years of hospital experience in clinical area; EP preferred.
