Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, coordinate, and evaluate the clinical and operational functions of the nursing unit.
  • Promote a safe environment and perform job responsibilities safely.
  • Maintain clinical and professional competency appropriate to the patient population served.
  • Support a Professional Practice model that fosters collaboration among interdisciplinary partners for high-quality patient outcomes.
  • Advocate for the rights of patients, families, team members, and students, particularly regarding health and safety.
  • Contribute to performance improvement activities within the unit.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agency standards and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Function as a team member to achieve unit and organizational goals while upholding quality management and patient care standards.
  • Demonstrate competence in management principles, including interviewing, selection, and supervision of nursing personnel.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to exchange information and promote dialogue.
  • Allocate resources and create collegial relationships between nurses and physicians.
  • Integrate evidence and research findings into nursing practice.
  • Assist in developing policies, procedures, and standards reflective of evidence-based practice.
  • Coordinate patient/family-centered care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Take responsibility for recruitment, retention, orientation, education, credentialing, and professional development of team members.

Requirements

  • Professional Nursing Certification required.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, NRP certifications required, with CPI required within 45 days of start.
  • Demonstrated competence in management principles.
  • Previous management experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing policies and procedures reflective of evidence-based practice.
