About the position
The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) will provide high-quality care to critically ill patients in a 6-bed unit. This role involves managing patient care, operating ICU equipment, and collaborating with a supportive team of experienced staff. The position requires a willingness to float to other units during low census and involves a variety of critical care procedures.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient care in a 6-bed ICU unit with a charge nurse and monitor tech per shift.
- Maintain patient ratios typically ranging from 2 to 3 patients per nurse.
- Operate ICU equipment, including monitors and ventilators.
- Utilize the HMS Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Perform procedures such as caring for patients on cardiac drips and diuretic drips, providing ventilation support, and assisting with Thoracentesis and Paracentesis.
- Engage in unit guidelines and participate in continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience.
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Willingness to float to a medical surgical telemetry unit during low census.
- Experience in assisting with Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) and Cardioversion.
- Proficiency in caring for patients receiving cardiac drips, diuretic drips, and ventilation support (ventilators, BiPAP, C-PAP).
- Ability to manage CVP and ART lines.
