About the position

As a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Alto HealthCare Staffing, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional healthcare to critically ill patients. This role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive and specialized care, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough and ongoing assessments of patients' conditions, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assessing the need for interventions.
  • Provide specialized care to critically ill patients, including those with complex medical conditions, post-surgical recovery, and trauma-related injuries.
  • Monitor and manage patients on mechanical ventilation, ensuring proper settings and patient comfort.
  • Administer medications, fluids, and blood products as prescribed, and monitor patient responses while maintaining accurate records.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies, including code blue situations, and provide immediate life-saving interventions.
  • Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment options, and post-discharge care.
  • Competently operate and troubleshoot complex medical equipment used in the ICU.
  • Strictly adhere to infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including assessments, interventions, and progress notes.
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
  • Previous ICU nursing experience is preferred, but new graduates with a strong interest in critical care may be considered.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional certifications such as CCRN or TNCC are a plus.
