About the position
MedPro Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Long Term Acute Care Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel nursing assignment in Machias, Maine. This role involves providing care for patients requiring extended medical attention in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high-quality nursing care while managing multiple admissions and discharges. The position is designed for experienced RNs who are ready to take on the challenges of a travel nursing role with a focus on patient education and specialized medical equipment monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Provide care for 5-6 patients in the Long Term Acute Care unit.
- Monitor and administer medications orally, subcutaneously, and through IV.
- Educate patients and their families on surgical processes and illness management.
- Adjust and perform duties in a fast-paced environment with many admissions and discharges.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, recording and interpreting electronic displays.
- Interpret telemetry readings and notify appropriate medical team members of any irregularities.
- Perform all duties required of a registered nurse at all times.
- Care for patients with pulmonary HTN, respiratory failure, COPD, CHF, and A-Fib.
- Start IVs, draw blood, and manage patient care from start to finish.
Requirements
- Active RN License
- Degree from an accredited nursing program
- BLS & ACLS Certifications
- Eighteen months of recent experience in a Long Term Acute Care setting
- Experience with Vents, Trachs, Drips, EG Tubes, and ability to read Tele-strips
