About the position

The PICU RN position at Cynet Health involves providing specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The role requires close monitoring of patients with complex illnesses or injuries, administering medications, and supporting families in understanding care procedures. The nurse will work collaboratively with medical personnel to ensure effective treatment and patient safety, while also documenting care and evaluating patient responses.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care to critically ill patients in the PICU.
• Keeps all patients under close observation and administers prescribed medications and treatments.
• Assists doctors in the assessment of patients and delivery of treatments, such as dressing wounds and monitoring life support equipment.
• Provides support and education to the patient's family on care procedures.
• Performs pulmonary toileting and cares for patients on a ventilator.
• Draws blood from both central and arterial lines and administers medication.
• Performs and interprets EKG and telemetry monitoring.
• Initiates and revises the patient's plan of care based on ongoing assessments.
• Incorporates clinical and technical aspects of care with nursing actions and interventions according to established policies.
• Documents nursing interventions and patient responses according to hospital policy.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions and methods of implementation.
• Supervises ancillary personnel in their job-related duties.
• Ensures patient confidentiality and rights are maintained.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with current licensure in good standing.
• Evidence of current AHA BLS and PALS certification required; TNCC preferred.
• Minimum one year of current PICU hospital experience.
