About the position

The Travel Nurse (RN) Tele/Stepdown specializes in telemetry and post-critical care, providing patient care in a step-down unit. This role focuses on managing dysrhythmias, multi-system organ failure, and ventilatory support, requiring essential skills such as IV management and patient assessment. It is designed for experienced travel nurses who can adapt quickly to diverse patient needs and hospital protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in a step-down unit specializing in telemetry and post-critical care.
• Manage dysrhythmias and multi-system organ failure.
• Administer IV insulin protocols and manage blood products.
• Perform central line care and management, including PICC line management.
• Start IVs and manage continuous IV sedation.
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips as needed.
• Assist with the management of BiPAP and CPAP.
• Interpret ABGs and manage ventilators.
• Implement infection prevention and isolation precautions using PPE.
• Perform phlebotomy and care for surgical wounds with drains.

Requirements

• ME nursing license required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
• Certifications: ACLS, BCLS required.

• Experience with Cerner preferred.
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred.
• Charting experience preferred.
• Community hospital experience preferred.
• NIH certification preferred.
