About the position

The Pharmacy Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy department by ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, integrating customer service into daily tasks, and maintaining regulatory standards. This position requires collaboration with the healthcare team and participation in performance improvement initiatives, all while adhering to infection control protocols and cost containment practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all tasks according to policy and procedure.
  • Ensure compliance with all elements of the Pharmacy Assistant training tool.
  • Integrate customer service into work practices.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance of the department's workflow.
  • Utilize current hospital requirements for infection control.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement Initiatives.
  • Utilize appropriate steps in the decision-making process related to pharmacy workflow issues.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the healthcare team.
  • Complete competency requirements and attend mandatory in-services.
  • Attend staff meetings as required/requested.
  • Utilize cost containment practices.
  • Adhere to all facility policies and procedures, including dress code and code of conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board PTCB).
  • Maintain continuing education requirements established by the certifying board.
