About the position

RTG Medical-Allied is seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Technologist for a travel position in Winchester, Virginia. This role is essential in supporting surgical teams by preparing operating rooms, ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are available, and assisting during surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist will work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The position requires a commitment to maintaining sterile techniques and adhering to safety protocols to ensure the best outcomes for patients. The Surgical Technologist will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: preparing and maintaining the sterile field, passing instruments to the surgeon during procedures, and managing surgical supplies. This travel position offers the opportunity to work in different healthcare settings, gaining diverse experiences and enhancing professional skills. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with the surgical team. This position is a travel role, which means the Surgical Technologist will be required to relocate temporarily to Winchester, Virginia, for the duration of the assignment. The contract is for 13 weeks, with a standard workweek of 36 hours, typically consisting of 12-hour shifts during the day. The start date for this position is set for September 16, 2024, and the pay package will be based on the confirmed hours worked, including a tax-free stipend that will be determined prior to the start of the assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgical procedures.
  • Assist surgeons and nurses during operations by passing instruments and supplies.
  • Ensure all necessary instruments and equipment are available and functioning properly.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Monitor and manage surgical supplies and instruments before, during, and after procedures.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program.
  • Previous experience in a surgical setting is preferred.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to varying schedules.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with various surgical specialties is a plus.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
