The Traveling DSP Community Homes position is designed to provide essential assistance to individuals receiving services across various educational and residential environments. The primary goal is to promote choice and independence while ensuring protective oversight. The role requires compliance with all Springbrook policies and state regulations to maintain a safe and smooth operation of the program. As a traveling Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will be deployed to different locations within the agency to meet staffing requirements as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in your work environment. In this role, you will serve as a positive role model while engaging with individuals in various behavioral, medical, educational, and social situations. You will be responsible for implementing service plans and collecting necessary data to track progress. Supporting individuals with challenging behaviors is a key aspect of the job, which may involve performing physical interventions as trained. Medical advocacy is also a critical component, requiring you to obtain and maintain relevant medical certifications, administer medications, attend medical appointments, and fulfill other duties as outlined in the plans of care. The position emphasizes a person-centered planning approach, ensuring that individuals experience independence, growth, and development throughout their daily activities. You will develop learning materials and goals tailored to the needs and interests of those you support. Additionally, you will assist with activities of daily living, including personal care tasks, and utilize community resources to help individuals achieve their personal goals and foster meaningful relationships. This may involve participation in spiritual activities, recreational events, and family functions. Maintaining a safe and clean environment is essential, including the upkeep of grounds and vehicles. You will be required to obtain and maintain all necessary training and certifications relevant to the program. Flexibility is crucial, as you will provide full-time availability to the Assistant Director on a monthly basis, including at least two weekend shifts per month. The Assistant Director will determine your work locations, which will be scheduled for two-week periods and may change based on agency needs. You must be able to travel to multiple locations to fill staffing shortages, and mileage or access to agency vehicles will be provided. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
