About the position
The Traveling Manager of Construction will oversee the construction of new retail locations and remodels for a rapidly growing retail franchisee. This role involves mentoring a team of construction project managers, ensuring quality standards, budget adherence, and timely project completion across various locations in North America and Canada.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects and schedules to ensure completion dates are met according to business plans.
- Develop and coach team members to enhance their skills.
- Oversee architectural and engineering documentation from concept to store opening, ensuring budget and operational needs are met.
- Manage all aspects of the construction process, coordinating with contractors, vendors, and personnel for timely openings.
- Execute construction management systems and procedures to meet schedules and budgets.
- Drive sales revenues by ensuring timely store openings.
- Conduct formal construction bid reviews and manage contracts and qualifications.
- Adhere to project cost control procedures and track expenditures against budgets.
- Execute project closeout procedures to meet contract and landlord requirements.
- Review job progress for quality and timeliness, performing post-construction recaps.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in building construction, construction management, civil engineering, or architecture.
- 8+ years of experience in big box, fitness facilities, restaurant, or specialty retail store planning and construction.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience managing a large volume of work with extensive travel during peak periods.
- Strong time management and project prioritization skills.
- Experience in maintaining budgets.
