About the position
The Traveling Manager of Construction will oversee the construction of new retail locations and remodels for a rapidly growing retail franchisee. This role involves mentoring a team of construction project managers, ensuring quality standards, budget adherence, and timely project completion across various locations in the U.S. and Canada.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects and schedules to ensure completion dates are met.
- Develop and coach team members to improve their skills.
- Manage architectural/engineering documentation from concept to store opening.
- Oversee all aspects of the construction process with contractors and vendors.
- Execute construction management systems to meet schedules and budgets.
- Drive sales revenues by meeting store opening dates.
- Follow a formal construction bid review process for approval.
- Adhere to project cost control procedures and track expenditures.
- Execute project closeout procedures to meet contract requirements.
- Review job progress for quality and timeliness, performing post-construction recaps.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in building construction, construction management, civil engineering, or architecture.
- 8+ years' experience in big box, fitness facilities, restaurant, or specialty retail store planning and construction.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience managing a large volume of work with extensive travel during peak periods.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Experience maintaining budgets.
