About the position

As a Traveling Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) at Essentia Health, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality laboratory services across various clinical settings, from rural health clinics to level III trauma centers. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside skilled laboratory staff at multiple locations, gaining valuable experience while contributing to the diagnosis and management of diseases and injuries. Responsibilities

• Perform and report tests of all complexity levels on patients of all ages to assist with routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries.
• Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control Monitoring, instrumentation maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Exhibit problem-solving skills in laboratory settings.
• Process specimens and perform phlebotomy as required.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
• Interpret and correlate test results with disease states and theoretical knowledge (for MLS).
• Participate in research, development, education, and technical consultation (for MLS).

Requirements

• Graduate of an associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or meets CLIA guidelines for laboratory testing complexity (for MLT).
• Graduate of a four-year degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or MLT (ASCP) certified with additional semester hours in clinical laboratory equivalents and 2 years of full-time lab experience (for MLS).
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or equivalent is required within one year from the date of hire (for MLT).
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) is required within one year from the date of hire (for MLS).
• Current license or provisional license through the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice within 45 days of hire or transfer.
