About the position

The Traveling Recertification Specialist (TRS) at The Michaels Organization plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance and eligibility for residents in multifamily communities. This position involves traveling to various sites to requalify existing residents and, in some cases, qualify new applicants. The TRS operates under the direction of the Director of Internal Auditing and has the authority to make independent decisions regarding resident certifications, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements. The role requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks within specific time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Travel to selected communities portfolio-wide as directed.
• Interact with other field-based teammates in accordance with Michaels' mission statement and core values.
• Conduct applicant interviews and determine eligibility.
• Coordinate on-site data collections and processing of resident information.
• Schedule resident recertification interviews.
• Ensure proper calculation of income, assets, rent levels, etc., and the completion of the (re)certification.
• Coordinate apartment inspections for recertifications in tandem with the Rental Manager.
• Maintain resident files in accordance with company policy and regulatory agency policy.
• Perform any and all other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

• Three or more years' experience with affordable multifamily housing management.
• LIHTC, COS, USDA-RD & other industry program certifications essential.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; two or more years of college preferred.
• Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record required.
• Experience with RealPage, YARDI, ResMan and/or other industry-related software essential.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
