About the position

The Traveling Superintendent at ARCO is responsible for overseeing construction projects across the country, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to specifications. This role involves direct management of construction activities, coordination with subcontractors, and maintaining communication with project managers and clients. The position emphasizes leadership, safety, and quality, with a commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Attend post-award review meetings to gather project information for preplanning.
  • Prepare construction schedules and organize project activities with the project manager.
  • Direct and control construction projects to meet specifications and timelines efficiently.
  • Assist project managers in material shipment and approvals of shop drawings.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities to ensure effective project integration.
  • Inform supervisors and subcontractors of any schedule changes promptly.
  • Prepare job progress and cost reports reflecting actual costs accurately.
  • Review and approve requisitions, purchase orders, and significant reports.
  • Maintain communication with owners and their representatives regarding project progress.
  • Conduct job site meetings with project managers and regional managers.
  • Maintain a daily diary to record significant project facts and events.
  • Ensure adherence to the company's safety program throughout the project.
  • Make decisions under tight deadlines and manage multiple activities effectively.
  • Demonstrate leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Evaluate project processes for quality improvements and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 5-25 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years as a lead superintendent on projects of 100k sq ft or more.
  • Willingness to travel within the United States as needed.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and project scheduling software.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
