About the position
The Investment Analyst position at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) is designed to provide operational and analytical support for investment activities within the organization. This hybrid role requires the candidate to work within the state of Arizona and involves preparing reports, tracking investment performance, and providing analytical support for Treasury functions. The position reports to the Director of Investments in Treasury and requires a strong foundation in finance and investment management.
Responsibilities
- Prepare various daily, weekly, and monthly reports using spreadsheet, database, presentation, word processing, and investment/analytic tools.
- Track and reconcile investment performance across various portfolios/managers.
- Gather and store data from various sources, providing statements as needed to stakeholders, including financial reporting teams, auditors, and third-party consultants.
- Provide analytical support for Treasury functions, including asset allocation, strategy implementation, performance measurement, policy compliance, tax policy, and risk mitigation.
- Conduct fundamental and qualitative analysis on current and potential investments in fixed income, equity, and alternative asset classes.
- Track and pay investment expenses.
- Assist with cash management as needed.
- Assist in investment back-office operations, facilitating the establishment of investment accounts and asset movements.
- Review and facilitate investment accounting by the companies' custodians, accounting service providers, and internal accounting staff.
- Prepare outside manager fee audits.
- Assist in RFP/vendor selection process.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field of study.
- College-level coursework in finance, financial analysis, and investment management.
Nice-to-haves
- 1 - 3 years of experience in investment management/analysis (may be through coursework or internship).
- Master's degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field of study.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or progress toward designation.
