About the position

The Treasury Analyst III position within Treasury Operations is a hybrid role that requires in-office work three days a week, ideally based in the Amherst, NY office, with the possibility of being located in Bridgeport, CT. This role is pivotal as it independently leads projects across various functional areas of Treasury Operations and represents these areas in high-visibility, cross-functional projects that involve collaboration with business partners outside of Treasury Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and producing mid-complexity departmental reports and spreadsheets, which include project or product strategy analyses, historical reporting, workflow analyses, and financial analyses for one or more functional areas of Treasury Operations. In this role, the Treasury Analyst will conduct complex analyses and judgment-based work across multiple disciplines to support decision-making within Treasury Operations. This includes performing detailed data reviews, research, and reconciliations for assigned areas. The analyst will also lead the drafting and editing of procedures to ensure they remain current and relevant. Additionally, the position involves managing the planning, testing, and implementation of new projects, systems, products, and regulatory changes that impact the assigned Treasury Operations teams. The Treasury Analyst will provide system support for departmental operations, coordinating with internal business partners, external vendors, and technology teams to address any issues that arise. A critical aspect of the role is to maintain compliance with the company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls, while also promoting a diverse work environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand. The analyst will be expected to maintain internal control standards and ensure timely implementation of audit points and issues raised by external regulators. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and produce mid-complexity departmental reports and spreadsheets, including project or product strategy analyses, historical reporting, workflow analyses, and financial analyses for one or more functional areas of Treasury Operations.
  • Conduct complex analysis and judgment-based work over multiple disciplines to support Treasury Operations decisions.
  • Conduct complex data review, research, and/or reconciliation for assigned areas of Treasury Operations.
  • Lead the drafting and/or editing of procedures related to one or more functional areas of Treasury Operations to maintain their currency.
  • Lead support provided for departmental audits including user certifications and compliance testing for Treasury Operations.
  • Manage the planning, testing and implementing of new projects, systems, products and regulatory changes impacting assigned Treasury Operations team(s).
  • Lead departmental system support, coordinating with internal business partners, external vendors and Technology to address issues for assigned Treasury Operations team(s).
  • Provide functional system knowledge to colleagues within one or more functional areas of Treasury Operations.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years' related experience, OR in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years' related experience.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in functional areas supported (Commercial, Treasury, Finance, Credit, Operations, and Technology).
  • Experience in Treasury products including securities, foreign exchange, interest rate derivatives, and collateral.
  • Familiarity with PowerBI and advanced excel functions.
