About the position

The Treasury Investment Specialist position is a key role within the Fixed Income Division, responsible for managing the fixed income portfolios of the multi-billion-dollar State of Michigan Retirement System (SMRS) pension fund. The specialist will assist in developing investment strategies, managing portfolios, and overseeing a significant portion of the division's assets. The focus will be on improving risk-adjusted investment performance and exploring investment opportunities both within and outside traditional fixed income strategies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of investment strategies for the Fixed Income Division.
• Manage and oversee fixed income portfolios for the State of Michigan Retirement System pension fund.
• Focus on improving risk-adjusted investment performance of the division portfolio.
• Identify investment opportunities within and outside the traditional core fixed income opportunity set.
• Evaluate internally and externally managed strategies focusing on securities within the Bloomberg U.S. Aggregate Bond Index.

Requirements

• Possession of a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or real estate management/financing.
• Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Treasury Investment Analyst P11.
• Possession of a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation may substitute for the education requirement.
