About the position

The Orthodontic Treatment Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting orthodontic practices by assisting the Orthodontist with new patient consultations and ensuring excellent patient care. This position requires a friendly and outgoing personality, along with a solid understanding of orthodontic procedures, insurance, and billing. The coordinator is responsible for managing patient records, presenting treatment plans, and maintaining a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Orthodontist with new patient consultations.
• Understand and discuss orthodontic procedures with patients.
• Manage insurance, billing, and financial discussions with patients.
• Obtain and record medical history from patients.
• Operate X-ray equipment and take photos for patient records.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments, materials, and equipment according to infection control protocols.
• Maintain instruments and equipment effectively.
• Provide excellent patient care at all times.
• Present treatment plans and payment options to patients.
• Confirm new patient appointments and complete contracts and payment authorization forms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Certified dental assistant program or six months of orthodontic on-the-job training.
• 1+ years of treatment coordinating experience.
• Radiography certification.
• Current CPR certification.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of dental records and documentation.
• Comply with clinical protocols and standards.
• Sound knowledge of dental equipment, instruments, terminology, and materials.
• Good understanding of orthodontic techniques and health protocols.
• Ability to perform basic computer functions, including knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a dental service organization (DSO).
• Familiarity with patient education regarding dental insurance.
