The Tree Trimmer Saw Operator is responsible for driving and operating right-of-way (ROW) vehicles and equipment to safely and efficiently complete various tasks and projects. This role involves performing daily inspections and maintenance of chainsaws and safety equipment, ensuring that all tools are in proper working order. The operator must be proficient in the safe and efficient operation of chainsaws and must notify the supervisor of any safety hazards encountered during operations. The position requires performing right-of-way clearing duties, which include bucket work, climbing, ground clearing, cutting, chipping, piling, burning, and other methods of brush disposal. The operator will also be responsible for cutting danger trees and must possess the ability to rope and direct trees away from hazards. Under the supervision of an operator, the individual will work in a bucket truck to help trim or remove debris, ensuring adequate clearance is maintained. In addition to the above responsibilities, the Tree Trimmer Saw Operator will inspect the right-of-way in front of the equipment to flag any obstacles, such as phone pedestals, guy wires, and water and gas meters. The operator will also perform traffic control duties around the work area as needed, adhering to all state and federal Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) and local regulations. A strong understanding of general safety rules and policies is essential, as is the ability to promote good relations with other crew members, patron cooperatives, and the general public. The operator will be expected to communicate any work-related problems, material or supply needs, and equipment issues to the crew foreman.
