About the position
The Truck Driver, CDL A position at Performance Foodservice is essential for ensuring the timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products to various customers, including restaurants and healthcare facilities. This role not only involves driving but also requires building strong relationships with customers while adhering to safety and DOT regulations. Responsibilities
- Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally.
- Performs all required safety checks including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations.
- Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
- Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
- Performs count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded.
- Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule.
- Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas.
- Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures.
- Completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
Requirements
- 12 months commercial driving experience
- High school diploma/GED or state approved equivalent
- Valid CDL A
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift.
Nice-to-haves
- 1+ years commercial driving experience
- Foodservice distribution industry experience
- Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e. PeopleNet)
- Customer service related work experience.
